Tasmania’s only real ice rink is back at MyState Bank Arena, offering 90-minute public sessions every day, plus Sensory Sessions, Adults Only After Dark, and Teen Sessions with a live DJ. Whether you’re new to skating or a regular on the rink, it’s the perfect way to enjoy something refreshingly different these summer holidays.

Do you provide ice skates?
Yes – Skate hire is included with your ticket purchase.
Can I bring my own skates?
Yes, of course.
Do you provide skating aids?
Yes – Skating aids are available for hire
Do customers need to wear a helmet?
All skaters under the age of 10 must wear a helmet whilst on the ice. We strongly recommend that all new skaters over 10 years old wear a helmet whilst on the ice.
Is ice skating dangerous?
While we do our best to provide a safe experience for all skaters. Ice Skating can be dangerous, especially for those who are new to the sport. We encourage all skaters to follow the direction of staff and take it slow while learning how to skate. All skaters must acknowledge the inherent risk in skating by signing a waiver prior to entering the ice rink. All skaters skate at their own risk.
How long does a session last?
Each session is 90 minutes.
Adult-only AFTER DARK sessions are 2 hours.
Can I skate if the ice rink is wet?
While it may not be pleasant if you fall over – skating with a small amount of surface water is perfectly fine.
How old do you have to be to go Ice Skating?
The minimum age for the SHIVER ice skating rink is 5 years old. No children under the age of 5 years old are permitted on the rink under any circumstances.
I'm not skating, do I need to pay entry?
Spectators are free.
Do you have staff trained in first aid at SHIVER?
Great question! Our on-ice team at SHIVER are all trained in first aid and ready to assist if needed. Your safety is our priority.
What to Wear
Before heading to SHIVER at MyState Bank Arena, it’s good to know how to dress. The arena is kept at a cool 16 degrees, so we recommend wearing warm, comfortable clothing. Layering is a great idea - you might feel chilly when you arrive, but after a few laps on the ice, you’ll warm up quickly.
Food & Drink
Whether you're watching friends skate or taking a break yourself, you can recharge with a hot drink and tasty snack from our on-site café at SHIVER. It’s the perfect spot to warm up and refuel.
Can I bring food?
No, we do not allow any ‘outside’ food and drink. But our onsite café will be open to purchase food and drinks.
Is there somewhere to store my belongings?
Yes, we will have lockers available to store personal belongings.
